21AUG2009
Baghdad, Iraq

Relatives searched the wreck of a car in front of the finance ministry in Baghdad for a missing relative.

Iraqis stopped on the highway to take a look at the Finance Ministry building in the Waziriyah neighborhood of Baghdad, which was hit by a truck bomb on 19AUG2009. The explosion damaged the building, set cars on fire, and collapsed an on-ramp for the highway, and was part of an attack that also damaged the Foreign ministry in a separate bombing. As many as 95 were killed in the bombings and as many as 600 were injured.
The Finance ministry was badly damaged in a 2007 bombing attempt and had just finished refurbishing in 2008.
